Immigrant Assistance is a 501(c)(3) non-sectarian, community outreach, and volunteer-based program of St. James Cathedral. We strive to build a community where immigrants are welcomed, valued and celebrated. The program provides free English tutoring to adult, low-income refugees and immigrants; citizenship and naturalization assistance; elder integration; advocacy and awareness raising. Our program serves 300 - 400 immigrants each year. Volunteers fulfill a variety of roles, including tutoring, program and office support, fundraising, communications, and other ways. Clients come from over 50 different countries and speak more than 30 languages.
