Richard Conn
[August 24, 1932 - May 24, 2019]
Richard Conn was a San Antonio Arts visionary and a long time committed supporter of SAY Si. Throughout his life Richard had a passion for art. He took art courses and worked on projects in his spare time. In 1990 he remodeled an old home in La Villita and opened the Nueva Street Gallery, which showcased contemporary art for 20 years,
Richard was a painter, printmaker, and sculptor but most of all he was a connector so in his honor the Richard Conn Memorial Scholarship will annually support two SAY Sí students to expand their creative and artistic growth. Funds will support students interested in expanding their creative skillsets – examples include choosing to take an advanced class at a community center or college, applying for a pre-college summer arts program, etc.
Donors to the Richard Conn Memorial Scholarship will be updated annually with information on their gift and the students who are awarded the scholarships.
