For International Tiger Day, a generous donor has agreed to match the first $6,500 donated to the Rescue to Refuge campaign. That means your very generous gift will be doubled!
As you know, Carolina Tiger rescues animals from a variety of backgrounds – from photo props to pets, which is no way for these precious cats to live. Every rescue’s first stop at Carolina Tiger is at Karen’s Keep, our quarantine building.
There, the soon-to-be resident is evaluated and receives a physical by our on-staff vet. Their stay at quarantine lasts about 30 days - giving our staff time to assess the animal's health. It also gives us a glimpse into the animal’s personality, which helps us determine whether the newcomer will be on or off tour.
As you can imagine, going from rescue to refuge is a major transition for everyone, and our quarantine building has been an integral facet in our mission. Not only is it a rescue’s first stop en route to a better life, it gives sick or injured animals time and space to recover.
Karen’s Keep quarantine is very functional, but there’s still something missing: outdoor access.
Through the years, our quarantine has served our rescues in a momentous way. Adding outdoor access would greatly benefit everyone. It would reduce stress for the animals, giving them a place to bathe in the sun and receive more enrichment, while offering just a bit of normalcy during a rough time in their lives. It would give the staff greater flexibility to care for the wild cats.
The Karen’s Keep expansion is so important and necessary to us. It will help us be ready for any animal destined to call Carolina Tiger Rescue home!
We are so grateful for your support and we know we can depend on you to help, even if it's just passing along this giving opportunity!
Thanks again for your ongoing support!
