Alejandro “Alex” Valencia Lizarraga was born on July 3, 1997 in Austin, Texas. He passed away on October 5th, 2017 at the age of 20.
Alex attended Montessori School of the Epiphany, Pease Elementary and O’Henry Middle School. He graduated from Austin High School in 2015. Alex went on to attend Texas State University where he was active in Our Lady of Wisdom’s Catholic Student Organization and specifically involved in Saint Paul’s Outreach and FOCUS. He loved serving his fellow students at Bobcat Awakening. He aspired to become a nurse and was set to begin the Nursing Program at Baptist School of Health Professions this spring. An avid musician, Alex took joy in playing and composing rock and country music.
We will always remember Alex’s infectious smile and dimples, witty sense of humor and compassion for others.
Alex will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him. He is survived by his parents Martin Lizarraga and Rosana Valencia Lizarraga and his sister Catalina. Alex also leaves his paternal grandfather Dr. Alejandro Lizarraga; his maternal grandfather Herminio Osmeña Valencia; his paternal uncles Hon. Marcos Lizarraga, Dr. Miguel Lizarraga, Rev. Daniel Lizarraga; his paternal aunts Laura Adauto and Claudia Meserole; his maternal uncles Rev. Herminio Valencia Jr., Andrew, Jesse, Michael , Neil, Clint; his maternal aunts Ester Valencia, Sabrina Valencia, Maribel Kwan, Milagros Karlsson, Grace Dy, Kathleen Funtanar and Ana; numerous cousins; and a host of other family and friends.
Alex is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Milagros Zayas Valencia, his maternal grandmother Herminia Lizarraga and canine companion Velvet.
