Princeton School of Public and International Affairs 14th Annual Service Auction
Trenton Climate Corps builds on IYI’s experience in alternative youth education and empowerment programming and urban sustainability initiatives to combine the two into a pilot program that will launch this summer. TCC offers a pathway for youth to receive training and employment in climate resilience and green infrastructure careers, creating a rich network of environmental stewards with the power and skills to improve Trenton for current and future generations.
We work with 16–24 year-olds from the Trenton region who have an interest in environmental and sustainability priorities, focusing on youth who would most benefit from a focused, intensive vocational and life skills development opportunity. TCC empowers these youth by teaching them valuable and employable skills related to improving the local environment while fostering pride in their community and providing alternatives to street life.
Projects include: community forestry (tree planting, mapping, and management), stormwater management (rain gardens, litter abatement, native meadow conversions), community agriculture, and energy efficiency/weatherization in partnership with Isles’ Center for Energy and Environmental Training.
