Benevolent Assistance Program:
The Benevolent Assistance Program ensures that no resident be asked to leave Penick Village due to unforeseen circumstances. The Foundation's primary focus is to secure resources so any resident who has outlived his/her financial resources through no fault of their own remains a part of Penick Village's family.
Cheryl S. Futrell Scholarship Program:
The Cheryl S. Futrell Scholarship program for Penick Village employees and employees’ children and grandchildren was established in 2016 in honor of Cheryl’s 40 years of service to Penick Village. Cheryl broke the ‘Glass Ceiling’ at Penick Village by starting as Executive Housekeeper in 1976. She then went on to become the first Director of Independent Living and the first Chief Operating Officer. Donations in her honor were received after her retirement, and with Cheryl’s help the program’s guidelines were created and the first scholarship was awarded in 2017.
Honor Walk & Garden Campaign:
Through the beautification of our Honor Walk & Garden, adjacent to the Village House, we have created not only a place where we can honor one another, but also a vehicle through which we can continue to build on our future. This special place honors those we hold dear and supports the Penick Village Foundation Endowment Fund through the purchases of bricks.
Art Show & Sale:
Benefitting the Benevolent Assistance Program, our 16th annual event will feature gorgeous pieces from local artists and potters. We also auction incredible vacation stays, items from downtown businesses, and experiences with generous friends of Penick Village, all to help our residents who need financial support.
The Thiede Fund is an emergency assistance and educational loan program for employees of Penick Village, managed by Chaplain Colette Bachand. In cooperation with the Pinebluff Peddler Thrift Store, donated furniture and household items are exchanged for a commensurate donation to the Thiede Fund.
At Penick Village, we believe that the way to become stronger is to plan for our future. To build a stronger future, we must build a foundation that can sustain our mission and ministry. Our Endowment Fund is an investment fund with available earnings for the provisions of Charity Care assistance, which includes the Benevolent Assistance Program. Funds are invested according to an investment plan approved by the Foundation Board.
