Thank you for Supporting the Marissa Joyner Family Scholarship Fund

In November of 2018, we lost the much beloved Marissa Joyner. Marissa was a fighter, a fighter with the biggest smile and biggest heart you have ever seen. Not only was she a fighter for herself and her family, but she was a fighter for the community. On Saturdays, you could find her sharing her passion for cooking at the West Broad Farmers Market or selling her DC Famous Dogs. With a smile that could light up the darkest day, you always knew when Marissa was around.

Even when she was down, Marissa evoked hope and perseverance in those she met. She understood that the fight was worth fighting, and it was much bigger than herself.

For these reasons, we push on. We continue the journey that Marissa and many others were so passionate about- a brighter future for our children, housing, and healthy food that is accessible and affordable for all. We are lucky to have known such a beautiful soul and hope to keep her spirit alive in our work and commitment to the Athens community.

In honor of all the good Marissa Joyner has done for the Athens community we are establishing a scholarship fund for her two boys. Please donate in her honor - 100% of the funds raised will go to her sons.
