Edwin M. Lee served as the 43rd Mayor of the City and County of San Francisco, and was the first Asian-American elected as mayor of a major American city.
A son of immigrants, Ed was born and raised in Seattle and grew up in the Yesler Terrace projects and Beacon Hill neighborhood. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1970. As a lifelong community advocate, Ed fought for fair and low-income housing rights, educational and economic opportunities, immigrant rights and gender equality.
In honor of Ed's Seattle roots, the Lee Family seeks to continue this important work through the Edwin M. Lee Memorial Foundation Fund. This fund will support student scholarships, nonprofit organizations and social causes that were important to Ed and remain important to his family.
MISSION: To honor the legacy of Mayor Edwin M. Lee by opening doors of opportunity, inclusion, and justice.
This fund is a component fund of Seattle Foundation and as a public charity, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, all donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
