high-dose chemotherapy, and an autologous stem cell transplant in

which doctors harvested Alice’s healthy blood stem cells and then used

them to regrow her blood and immune system after killing the cancer in

her old blood system.

A year after treatment, Alice was working hard to overcome speech

delays, weakness in her right side, and partial vision loss. But there was

no sign of her cancer! Sure, Alice and her family will continue to watch

for recurrence with precautionary MRIs and checkups, but month by

month, Alice has continued to beat her prognosis.

More than a year and a half after a diagnosis that carried an 11-month

prognosis, and just after her third birthday, Alice started preschool.
