We have a 40-year history of bringing people together from all economic strata to revitalize the city’s underserved communities.
Our holistic approach to development merges community building with direct service. With our partners, supporters, and volunteers, we co-create social, economic, and environmental health.
We envision a New Haven where all neighborhoods are vibrant and safe, and all residents are thriving in beautiful, dignified homes. With you, we can make this vision a reality!
In recent years, we’ve worked with EMERGE Connecticut, the City of New Haven and various contractors to create beautiful homes for families with low and moderate incomes.
The average selling price of an NHS-renovated home: $185,000. The average cost to purchase, rehab and landscape a two-family NHS home: $475,000.
You help us make it possible.
We teach hundreds of people financial literacy skills like budgeting and how to save money by maintaining their home, making energy saving improvements, landscaping and growing food in environmentally sound ways. It costs NHS $600 to run a single class.
Revitalize neighborhoods with us.
Every year, NHS participates in a number of tax credit programs, including Connecticut’s Neighborhood Assistance Act program. If your company is interested in supporting a portion of our work in lieu of certain state tax obligations, please contact Andy Eimicke for details: weimicke@nhsofnewhaven.org.
