The arrival of COVID-19 and the subsequent movement for Black lives dramatically changed conversations around food access and amplified inequities that we at Zenger Farm know have long existed.
In this shift we have seen a huge demand for local produce and have oversold our CSA to ensure we can feed as many families as possible this season using our sliding scale model where those who can afford to pay more cover the cost of shares for those who need financial support. By doing this we are practicing economic solidarity.
Our CSA members are cooperating to create a more equitable, inclusive, and just community. Together we are committed to making sure that financial challenges are never a hindrance to food access.
However, this year with COVID-19 more families have slid down the scale due to loss of income -- leaving us with an unprecedented $10,000 deficit in our ability to feed families.
We are asking that you please donate today to ensure that all our neighbors have access to fresh produce. We have some great news too -- The Zera Foundation agreed to match up to $5,000 in donations. That means when you contribute today your investment will have double the impact.
