In celebration of WEEMA International’s 10th anniversary, join us and support Team-a WEEMA’s 2021 Fundraising Mud Run!
What Does WEEMA Do?
WEEMA partners with rural communities in southwestern Ethiopia to provide clean water, quality education, economic opportunity, and life-saving healthcare. We are deeply rooted in place and committed to scaling our programs across an area of 2.5 million people.
How Does WEEMA Do It?
At WEEMA, we are proud of our unique approach on community-led development, which underpins all of our work in Ethiopia. For us, community-led development means working hand-in-hand with the community at every step – from conceptualizing a specific need, to designing a sustainable solution, to building accountability and improvement mechanisms. This means regular interactions with community members at all levels, from village elders and local government officials, to local teachers and health workers, to direct participants in the projects, such as school-age children or people with disabilities. Ultimately, it’s about asking and listening. Only by engaging communities can we hope to achieve long-lasting impacts. Our amazing team in Ethiopia is incredibly knowledgeable and deeply invested in the communities where we are located because they are from the communities we serve.
How Can I Help WEEMA?
Please consider donating today! Your donation creates an impact that will improve the lives of women, children, and families! WEEMA continues to expand our programs to reach more people in the communities we serve. To do this, we need your support.
