Charles Surendorf II Art Foundation

With your generous donation, the Surendorf Foundation can complete the Rainbow Arts Project Documentary and place a copy in every GSA (Gay/Straight Alliance Club), Art/History classes can open discussion about gender identity and the LGBTQ Community’s history, but most important of all start the dialog that must happen with the questioning youth of today to help them feel safer in their schools and to know that they are not alone when they are in this process.
We have been dedicated to the concept that there is so much to learn from the Senior LGBTQ and Ally Community.  Join us in making history.  Learn more about us at:  http://www.surendorf2artfoundation.org/

This is an example of an art piece made by a student about César Chávez, and how he was so supportive of the LGBTQ Community.

Empathy

Just a few words that come up when you think of art. When students have the opportunity to begin a dialog using art, 9 times out of 10 that student will discover something about themselves and find a relationship with their creation. Even if it is frustration, or anger, or just exposing obstacles keeping them from just being.  Help us give our youth of today a chance to express their creativity.  The Rainbow Arts Project has meaning.

"I know that if it were my child, I would want them to have a safe space to discover their gender identity or sexual expression without being bullied.  We are lucky to have the Surendorf Foundation come into our schools".
