Sunshine’s Friends Cat and Dog Rescue (SFCDR) has been involved with helping animals in need since 2003. We incorporated and became a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in October 2014. The number of animals we have rescued or aided has grown every year since then. You can donate either to our General Fund, Rescue Fund, Refuge Fund, Spay-Neuter Fund, Hope4Paws Fund, and/or Adoptions Fund.
Sunshine’s Friends’ Mission
- To RESCUE abandoned community cats and dogs in desperate situations;
- To REHABILITATE the sick, the injured, and the abused;
- To REHOME cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies ready for permanent placement with a suitable guardian;
- To provide a loving REFUGE for cats and dogs that are not adopted; and
- To REDUCE local shelter intake by promoting spaying and neutering.
We are an all-volunteer organization dedicated to serving helpless animals. Our goal is to stop the unnecessary euthanasia of all cats and dogs and to give them a second chance to live a good life with a loving family or companion.
Funding Sunshine's Friends
In order to continue this important work, we are seeking to raise enough funds to support an annual budget of $65,000 that covers food, medicine, physical infrastructure, marketing, maternal care, trap/neuter/return support, free or low-cost spay/neutering of cats, community services such as providing pet food banks for cats and dogs owners and a new program that provides emergency veterinary care grants so that guardians don't lose their fur companions for failure to pay.
Our Service Region And Grants
We serve the Ann Arundel, Baltimore, and Howard counties in Maryland as well as Baltimore City metropolitan area and its many feral cat colonies as well as offer adoption services to Ellicott City PetSmart through Petsmart Charities. We would like to expand our services to other PetSmarts in the region as well as extend our in-Shelter adoptions. We also have a grant from the Maryland Department of Agriculture to support our efforts to spay/neuter colony cats as well as rescue kittens and adoptable mothers to reduce the feral population. We aim to apply for new grants to extend our community services as well as fully fund our Hope4Paws Veterinary Fund and Referral Service.
Note: Sunshine's Friends Cat Rescue and Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt animal welfare organization recognized by the IRS, so your donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
