The Lost City (Ciudad Perdida) is a 1200 year old ancient site in Colombia’s Sierra Nevada region. The Lost City has spiritual significance to the three local tribes, and was a secret to the outside world until 40 years ago. With the growing popularity of the trek to the ruins, it has become more important now than ever to promote sustainable tourism in the region. G Adventures and Planeterra are working directly with the Wiwa & Kogui indigenous communities to develop social enterprise opportunities in tourism, to benefit the people who have lived in the region for hundreds of years.
About the project: Contributions to this project will go toward the establishment of a training program for indigenous guides and cooks, as well as development of community micro-enterprises to be linked to G Adventures' trekking tours. By working with the Wiwa people directly we will enable them to access customers from all tour groups that visit the area. Read more.
