Oregon is the only state in the country
that experienced a statistically-significant increase in hunger in recent years. This increase was driven by factors like the high cost of housing, childcare, healthcare and underemployment, especially in rural parts of Oregon. Hunger in Oregon remains disproportionately high for people of color, women, and people in rural areas.
Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon works to advocate and mobilize for Oregonians who are in need. We make it clear to our leaders what cuts in food programs would mean for our neighbors. We work to make sure kids have food to eat—whether they are in school, at home during the summer, live in rural Oregon, or in a big city.
