Calling all Local History Buffs, Horticulture Enthusiasts, and Montrose Residents!
exapmple of  early settler's Jacal structure

The Montrose Botanical Society’s Botanic Garden Historic Homestead project will re-create and preserve some original components of the first homestead in Montrose!

Actual Kallsrom Homestead being moved to the Montrose Botanic Gardens

It will proudly be a local family and tourist destination, illustrating the agricultural and horticultural history of our early 19th century settlers.
This new addition to the SW corner of the *Montrose Botanic Gardens at 1800 Pavilion Dr., will feature an "Interpretive Center" that will offer educational and demonstration areas. An authentic re-creation of a cabin and a restored original Jacal structure** from the actual homestead, will be featured, as well as historical plantings of the time.
Your donation will help support the planning, moving, construction, and logistics of creating this educational addition to the Garden.
As Montrose becomes a community of progress and growth, this project will be a legacy that keeps us connected to our precious past.
Our goal is to raise $20,000.00, to bring a total of $40,000.00 to the project, when matching funds are applied.

Please give generously as the Burgwyn/Shaver family fund has offered to match up to $10,000.00 in donations for this community asset!*Montrose Botanic Gardens, 1800 Pavillion Dr, Montrose CO
