Lyric World: Conversations with Contemporary Poets is a new event series sponsored by Town Hall and curated by Shin Yu Pai.

Offered in collaboration with KUOW, the series will be recorded and broadcast by KUOW's Speaker Forum program and includes a poetry reading by a featured reader, a musical guest, and a facilitated on-stage conversation between the featured poet and a peer from the community.

The series kicks off on January 30th, with a reading by Thomas Pruiksma from Vashon Island who will speak on the subject of poetry and magic, or wonder. Poet Melanie Noel will facilitate the ongstage conversation and jali Ibrahim Arsalan will perform West African kora music.

Other speakers confirmed for the series include American Book Award winner Koon Woon on March 19th, who will share work on poetry and displacement/home,  in conversation with master interviewer and former radio producer Paul Nelson. Percussionist Paul Kikuchi will perform.

Prageeta Sharma, author of Grief Sequence (Wave Books, 2019), will be featured on June 25th, presenting on poetry and grief, in conversation with afrose fatima ahmed.

Lyric World: Conversations with Contemporary Poets  is powered by Shunpike. We are supported by funding from the City of Seattle's Office of Arts & Culture and Windrose Fund.
