The Linn-Mar School Foundation raises private funds for public education. Since 1985 we’ve supported one of the fastest growing, top quality school districts in Iowa. With the support of our giving community, the Foundation helps ensure that Linn-Mar’s tradition of excellence extends into the 21st century with innovative new programs and measurable success in fundamental curriculum areas.
The Linn-Mar School Foundation:
Works with corporate and private donors to build general, endowed and designated funds for educational programs throughout the district;
Partners with teachers, parents and alumni to raise Smart Money in an annual fund drive for classroom and curriculum projects;
Brings donors and students together through scholarship funds that reward effort, determination and service;
Fosters relationships with the corporate giving community to ensure that work force and community values are preserved and strengthened.
Is creating a permanent funding source for Linn-Mar Schools by raising a $1,000,000 endowment through major and planned gifts.
Community leaders joined together in 1985 to create the Linn-Mar School Foundation. Many things have changed in the past 30 years; however, the Foundation’s purpose is more relevant today than ever before. An excellent public education system requires private support. The Foundation’s founders recognized this fact and put in place a support system to ensure that Linn-Mar Community Schools could grow, expand and excel with the help of private and corporate donors.
The first Foundation fund-raiser generated $2,000. Since that time, the Foundation has implemented and sustains several successful fundraising programs. It’s also well on its way to having a million dollar endowment.
In 2008, the Foundation launched Beyond, the Campaign for Linn-Mar’s Future to raise money for three endowed funds: the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Fund, the GLOBE Fund for cultural and arts programs and the BOLD Fund to support broad, bold educational endeavors across the curriculum. Money from these and other endowed funds, as well as annual contributed support, is distributed to school programs throughout the district.
Over the years the Foundation has been instrumental in upgrading technology and library collections in most schools and meeting academic needs in individual classrooms and buildings. Current priorities align with the district’s goal to provide students with the skills, knowledge and expertise they need to succeed in work and life in the 21st century. These skills include mastery of core subjects such as science, reading, history, language arts and math, as well as an understanding of global, cultural, health and civic issues.
Smart Money, the Annual Fund for Linn-Mar is currently underway. Smart Money contributions are a way to make an immediate impact in our schools. Contributions to this campaign are distributed to our schools in the form of grants ranging from 21st Century classroom technology, art & music enrichment, science, technology, engineering, arts & math (STEAM) initiatives, literacy & media center collections, under served and emerging curriculum areas and much more.
We are striving for a record-breaking goal for this years’ Smart Money campaign, $40,000! With the tremendous support from our Linn-Mar families, grandparents, community friends, businesses and alumni, we can do this!
You can help build on the success of current classroom programs, your gift can help a teacher with a new curriculum idea become a reality, you can help a student in need. You are the key.
