The Laundromat Project Inc

Arts and culture changes how we see and live in the world, by challenging us to think in new ways while opening up new possibilities of connection with our neighbors. That’s why The Laundromat Project (The LP) brings people-powered art to everyday community spaces, such as laundromats. We support multiracial, multigenerational, and multidisciplinary artists and arts programming at the intersection of social justice issues while amplifying the creativity that already exists within communities to build networks, solve problems, and enhance our sense of ownership in the places where we live, work, and grow. In our first decade, we directly invested nearly $8500,000 in 160 artists, 68 innovative public art projects, three diverse anchor neighbors, one creative community hub, and 38,000 New Yorkers, equipping and emboldening our neighbors as creative change agents in their own communities.
