Larkin Street Youth Services

Possible SF is a holistic, living-wage employment program designed to permanently break cycles of poverty and homelessness in the Bay Area and to increase diversity in corporate workforces.

Possible’s vision is to ensure that all individuals have access to upward economic mobility, and to create sustainable and diverse pathways out of homelessness or extreme poverty. Possible does this by making living-wage work opportunities available for marginalized populations while also providing complementary coordinated supportive services.

The idea of Possible was born from its cofounders'—Sheena Jain and Griffin Gaffney—work helping five people experiencing homelessness find employment at Stripe in 2017. None of those five people stayed at the company for more than a few months, and in most cases quickly returned to homelessness after leaving. Possible aims to address the primary reasons those five people left; financial instability and a lack of coordinated critical ancillary support such as affordable housing, skills training, and mental health services.

Possible SF is a fiscal project of Larkin Street Youth Services, a 501-c3 nonprofit, tax ID number 94-2917999.
