Why am I fundraising for Little Black Dress? This Campaign has helped to raise awareness to the fact that so many women need to choose between putting food on the table, or buying themselves multiple outfits for work. Unfortunately in our country this is a daily challenge from any families. I hope to not only raise awareness for this issue, but to raise money for the Junior League of the Oranges and Short Hills that helps to close the gap on food insecurity, essential clothing needs, school supply gaps and basic hygiene needs of school-aged children living in poverty. We believe that when these basic needs are met with the necessary supplies and educational resources, low-income children can focus their energy on succeeding in school.
JLOSH continues to support the needs of the community in many ways, but one of the largest ways is through grants they award every year. In 2019 we were able to award $7500 in grants! Last years grant winners are just a snapshot of the ways in which JLOSH helps to supply basic needs to our community!
2018-2019 Grant winners were:
Bethlehem Community Church: Youth Trailblazers Program/$4,000; providing "Weekend Backpacks" to support local food insecure children
Sierra House, Inc.: A Bed and a Home Transitional Program/$2,500; ensuring children have access to fresh linens and mattresses
Nassan's Place: Backpack & School Supplies Giveaway/$1,000; providing local autistic youth in need with essential school supplies
