Jack Straw Cultural Center exists to foster the communication of arts, ideas, and information to diverse audiences through audio media - to keep arts, culture, and heritage vital through sound. For over 25 years we have had a special commitment to serving youth with disabilities, English Language Learners, students from low-income families, and other underserved populations. We have continued this work despite the many challenges the past year has brought, providing students with the tools to tell their own stories and capture them as art. Your gift will help us continue these vital programs.
"Jack Straw’s mission is one of inclusion and offering educational opportunities to everyone. They approached me with the hope of expanding this year's poetry project to include even more Special Education students. The teachers met many times with Jack Straw and their poets, coaches, musicians and engineers, and collaborated closely to mold and shape the program to best serve our students. . . . Our students professionally recorded their poems, explored the exhibits, sound and instruments, and recorded music. To sum up, it was an amazing experience that deeply touched us and our students."
