There are currently 5 species of rhinos that inhabit the world today. You have the African black and white rhinoceros and then the Asian Sumatran, Javan, and Indian rhinoceros. Among the 5, the Javan and the Northern White Rhino are the 2 most endangered species. There are less than 100 Javan rhinos in the wild and only 2 female Northern White rhinos that live under 24 hour armed protection in Kenya. These animals are killed for their horns due to the belief that they hold special medicinal properties when they in fact have none.
The money donated is going towards helping train and equip rangers working in the parks where these animals are being killed. The tools in their arsenal range from weapons for protection from poachers to handling and caring for animals like horses and K-9's used to better aide in their efforts. Sadly over 1,000 rangers have been killed while trying to protect the native wildlife in Africa.
