Your Support Is Meaningful - Read Our Story Below!

As 2019 begins to draw to a close, we have been reflecting back on the year as well as our history of serving those in need in Franklin Township. We have been here since 1975 for our neighbors in need. We are still here. We will be here – through anything.

Seven years ago, Superstorm Sandy tore through the region, devastating the community. WE STAYED OPEN! Thanks to our neighbors who brought their own generators, we were able to keep our refrigerators and freezers running, our power on and food distributed. Even FEMA asked us to help get water to our neighbors in need, because they recognized that we were fighting on the front lines of that crisis.

Throughout 2019, we have seen a dramatic increase in client visits to our newly opened market, where our clients shop for food instead of receiving prepackaged bags. Our clients love being able to pick their own meals, read labels to ward off possible allergic reactions and select fresh produce and vegetables from local farms.

We continued to receive community support throughout the year. The Tour de Franklin proved to be the most successful ever! Even with foul weather, a record number of riders and teams participated in raising funds for the organization. The 1st Annual Empty Bowls event was an incredible success and we will be working with them once again in March of 2020. One of our strongest supporters, Ron Consiglio, hosted a benefit concert at his farm featuring NJ Hall of Fame Inductees: The Smithereens – with over 200 in attendance.

All of these events help us to fund the costs associated with helping our neighbors in need. Recently, we launched a new Ambassador Program – an online monthly giving campaign – to help sustain the Food Bank outside of events, in spite of foul weather and all through the year.

With all of this success, the costs with operating the Franklin Food Bank continue to rise. Our bills come just as your do – without fail. Our new building on Churchill Avenue is three times the size of our old facility. This move was necessary to create enough room to store and distribute food through our market. The larger need and larger building have created larger bills as well.

No matter how great the demand, The Franklin Food Bank responds. We are here to serve our clients in need, to assist those facing a food crisis. To help those deciding which bills can be put off in order to feed their families and themselves. Our client visits continue to increase 15% month over month. When will it end? We don’t know.

What we do know is that with your help, we can take hunger out of the decision making process. No one goes hungry in our community. With your support, the MONEY DONATED HERE WILL STAY HERE. Please help us to assist our neighbors experiencing a food crisis. With your help, we can continue to be Neighbors Helping Neighbors.
