“I have a deep desire to help people and my ECAD Service Dog will allow me do this with much more ease and comfort.”
Meet ECAD Client Teri Hughes
Terilynn Hughes is a registered nurse who is interested in art, music, theater, dance and science. She worked as a nurse in adolescent psychiatry and on a medical-surgical floor. One day at work she prevented a patient who was three times her size from falling, which resulted in a terrible back injury. It led to a spinal fusion and removal of two discs. Unfortunately the fusion didn’t heal correctly and Teri now has failed-back syndrome. She has chronic back pain, inability to bend or lift things. She has trouble getting out of chairs, walking on uneven surfaces and diminished stamina. These problems have caused her to become much more isolated than she would like.
An ECAD Service Dog will help Teri with walking safely, picking items up off the floor, doing laundry and other errands, and provide wonderful companionship. The dog will enable her to be more involved with others and continue to decrease her isolation. Her service dog will help her make the difference she so desires.
