When Randy and his wife visited ECAD, and met several of the Service Dogs-in-Training,
they knew immediately that a service dog will improve Randy’s quality of life by restoring his independence .
Meet ECAD Client Randy Marshburn
Hello, my name is Randy Marshburn. Originally from Charlotte, North Carolina, I have lived in Dallas, Texas, and now my wife Angela and I live in Connecticut.
I used to work as a mechanic and a tractor-trailer truck driver; however, over ten years ago, I was in a terrible trucking accident that disabled me due to major injury to my lower back. Then, in 2016, I suffered two strokes and was in a rehab facility for eighteen months. Since coming home, I have improved a lot, but I still need my wife or an aid to help me. While walking, I use a cane around the house and I use a rolling walker when I am out in public.
With a specially educated ECAD Service Dog by my side, I will not be dependent upon others to pick up things I inadvertently drop, or help me with my balance on uneven surfaces while I am walking. I look forward to regaining my independence. My dog will also be there for emotional support with lots of snuggling when I feel anxious or uneasy.
Your generous support will help improve the independence, mobility, and mental health for those of us with disabilities. Thank you for the very special gift of an ECAD Service Dog. Thank you for your generous gifts to ECAD in honor of Randy Marshburn.
