Meet ECAD Client Nancy Burpee
My name is Nancy Burpee. I have a progressive degenerative connective tissue disease called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome that causes me to have dislocated ankles, knees, shoulders, wrists, and fingers. However, my faith in God has enabled me to be undefeated by my health problems even though life is a struggle for me.
Before my disabilities forced me to retire, I worked in the physical therapy sports medicine field. I still love to swim and I am a United States Paralympic Swimming Champion. Currently, I train two to three times a week with a top national team.
A while ago, I had a service dog who greatly increased my independence and quality of life; he helped me walk with a crutch and harness; he hit handicap door buttons for me when I was in my wheelchair, among many other things. Best of all, he was a wonderful companion. Sadly, he developed a physical problem and he had to retire as my service dog.
Currently, I look forward to being placed with an ECAD Service Dog to help restore my independence and my ability to participate in life the way I want to. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to ECAD in my honor to help raise funds for my new dog.
Thank you for your generous support to help ECAD educate a service dog for Nancy.
Donations are 100% tax-deductible as allowable by law. If your employer has a Matching Gift program,
