When Joshua’s parents brought him to visit ECAD and they met Service Dog-in-Training Sequoia, Jean and Aaron Lynch knew immediately that a service dog would improve their son’s quality of life.
Meet ECAD Client Johsua Lynch
It was to be one of the best days of our lives—two beautiful, healthy babies—arriving any day! Without warning, we were faced with an awful reality—our baby girl, Shay, had died and our son, Joshua, was gravely ill. The months following were a whirlwind of grief, panic, and desperation.
Joshua, now four, is the embodiment of toughness and perseverance; he is a tremendous fighter. He faces each day with a big smile and an infectious laugh, despite the numerous medications, doctor visits, hospitalizations, and health concerns he faces regularly. During his short life, a series of complications have arisen as a result of Joshua’s initial CMV infection, including Autism, which has proved significantly problematic, as he struggles with the ability to communicate, is largely non-verbal, and does not understand the basic safety precautions that a typical toddler comprehends (i.e. Joshua is a ‘bolter’).
Still, Joshua is a very happy little boy who loves songs, light up toys, bubbles, and animals—especially dogs. He extends his sweet disposition to all those he comes into contact with, both animal and human, which is why we know that an ECAD Service Dog will make his life better in a million ways.
