When Esther visited ECAD with her two sons and met several of the Service Dogs-in-Training, she knew

immediately that an ECAD Service Dog will increase her independence and quality of life.

Meet ECAD Client Esther Peterson

Hello, my name is Esther.  I live in beautiful Connecticut with my loving and supportive husband, John, and our two wonderful sons, Adam (21) and David (18).

Three years ago, several very traumatic events happened in our family that inadvertently triggered suppressed memories of severe trauma of not only my childhood, but also disturbing events that occurred during my time in the Armed Services in the 1990s.  After several trips to the emergency room due to debilitating anxiety attacks, a total of six months of outpatient group therapy, and now undergoing psychotherapy twice a week, I am currently being treated for C-PTSD, PTSD and its accompanying flashbacks and nightmares, severe Agoraphobia and Claustrophobia.

These disabilities are causing a profound impact not only on my life, but also on the lives of my immediate family; and, my quality of life outside my home has come to a standstill.  The distress this causes on all of us is tragic.  Medicine that was prescribed were all ineffective.

My amazing family, my team of counselors, doctors, therapists, dear friends and loved ones all agree that with hard work and the support of an ECAD Service Dog by my side, I will be able to regain my quality of life and be able to enjoy day-to-day living again.  And, maybe even be able to go back to school and become a trauma therapist myself so I can give my services back to the community!

Your donations to help offset the expenses of training a Service Dog for my specific disabilities, and for others (veterans, trauma victims, etc.) suffering from the debilitating symptoms of C-PTSD/PTSD, is very much appreciated and a great blessing.  Thank you from all of us!
