When Ella visited ECAD and met several Service Dogs-in-Training, including Sequoia, left and Promise, right, her family knew immediately that a service dog will make a world of difference in all of their lives.
Meet ECAD Client Ella Dumais
Ella is a loving, spunky, determined, smart, funny, and resilient little girl. She very much wants to be included in all of the activities she sees her older sister, Emma, do. Ella’s autism and anxiety disorders interfere with her ability to enjoy watching a movie in a theater or seeing Emma perform in a dance competition. Visits to the doctor are absolutely dreadful for Ella because of her anxiety. Going to the store, library, or anywhere in public can be extremely challenging for her parents, Maureen and Daniel, and other adults in her life, because Ella has the tendency to wander. At home, she will even attempt to exit the house without an adult.
An ECAD Service Dog will allow Ella the independence and comfort Ella so desperately needs and deserves in order to enjoy all that any other child enjoys. Ella has a strong connection with any dog she meets, so a service dog that is especially trained to assist her with her specific needs will do so much for this incredible little girl; she can absolutely do anything with a service dog by her side.
