When Carl visited ECAD, and met several of the Service Dogs-in-Training,
he knew immediately that a service dog will improve his quality of life.
Meet ECAD Client Carl Ferrero
My name is Carl. I live in New York City where I have been a professional artist, graphic designer, and teacher for all of my adult life. Most recently, since housing instability and the safety of young people is something I have always felt strongly about, I became an educational counselor for youth experiencing homelessness in the City. Thank you for your generous gifts to ECAD in honor of Carl Ferrero.
When I was a young adult, I began experiencing symptoms of PTSD. At times, I found myself incapable of doing everyday things like grocery shopping, being in crowds or just going to the mailbox. I have tried many medications, but the symptoms have intensified over time.
After a hiking injury in 2015, I was diagnosed with arthritis in my spine, two herniated discs and a tear in my left hip. Treatment required surgery and over a year of physical therapy, but there is no ‘cure’ for these conditions. During symptom flares, I need help with walking, standing, and completing activities of daily life.
An ECAD Service Dog will enrich my life by providing me with more independence and assistance that I have not been able to find elsewhere.
Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to ECAD in my name, to help educate a dog for me and others who are in need.
Donations are 100% tax-deductible as allowable by law. If your employer has a Matching Gift program, please complete the form and
mail it to ECAD, P.O. Box 831, Torrington, CT 06790.
