Christina looks forward to being placed with her ECAD Service Dog, who will be specially trained
to wake up her parent or nurse if her ventilator is not working properly.
Meet ECAD Client: Christina Gregory
Hi! My name is Christina Gregory and I am here today to ask for your help.
Although I am a lot like you were at six years old; playing with Barbies, listening to Kidz Bop and hanging out with friends and family. I rely on machines to keep me alive.
You see, when I was born the doctors noticed my breathing was not quite right. I spent the first 6 months of my life living in the hospital. This began my family’s journey of trying to find a way for me to not only survive, but to thrive.
And today, you can be a part of this journey with your amazing support!
I was diagnosed with a rare condition called Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome. In simple terms, this syndrome causes my body to forget how to breathe, resulting in a shortage of oxygen and a buildup of carbon dioxide. In my short six years, I have needed mechanical ventilation 24/7 either from my ventilator at night or my diaphragmatic pacemaker during the day.
I am sure you can imagine how challenging my life has been.
But today, I have hope!
I have hope that I will be able to live my life more independently while pursuing my dreams. And with your help, my dreams can come true!
With your help, I will no longer have to rely on my nurses to ensure I survive through the night.
With your help, I will no longer have to fear not waking up when my alarms go off.
With your help today, me and others like me, will be one step closer to receiving a Service Dog that will allow us to live life on our terms.
Thank you for gifts made in my honor to help me and other people like me. We greatly appreciate your generous support!
