Hi my name is Alondra Duenas and I am a Junior at Northbrook High School. This year apart from taking four AP classes, I have also participated in various extracurricular activities. Including National Honor Society, EMERGE, UIL Math, and HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) all of which I have greatly enjoyed but especially HOSA. Going through HOSA this year I have learned the beauty of being a nurse, which has motivated me to strive to go to college and become a nurse. The Anatomy, Physiology, Biology, the processes that the body goes through and it’s ability to conduct itself is a very interesting concepts to me. I know that nursing programs are very hard to get in, therefore I work very hard to achieve academic success and have earned a GOA score of 4.32.
Achieve in Medicine is a program held June 16-22, 2019 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It offers students an experience in different medical fields, while also getting to experience the life of a medical student. Attending this program will allow me to learn more about the medical field. For example, Neuroscience, suturing, and nutrition. Through the program I will also have the opportunity to ask medical students and professors questions. Attending this program would truly be a beneficial experience for me due to learning how to succeed in medical school and in my future job as a nurse.
Although I have received a $950.00 scholarship I still do need to pay $450.00 for the Achieve in Medicine program. I will be very grateful if you will donate $25.00 or $50.00 for me to be able to go through this incredible experience.
