As a board member for the Catherine McAuley Center, I’m involved in creating a stronger future for the community we serve. I am raising funds to provide educational and supportive services for women, adult learners, and refugees and immigrants during this pandemic and into the future. I believe in the mission of CMC because it’s an irreplaceable community resource to improve the lives of those who are willing and wanting to dedicate their energy to their own improvement.
I’ve tutored ESL at CMC for years and have personally seen the dedication of students working to better their own life, the lives of their family and the community. I’ve mock interviewed residents to help them with their interviewing skills, and have seen their excitement and dedication to secure employment or improved employment. I’ve listened to stories of, but have yet to participate in, the welcoming group at the airport when a family arrives in our community fresh from a refugee camp, overwhelmed and thankful to start their new lives in our nation, to live with less fear and become contributing members of our community.
With your support, we can work FORWARD TOGETHER to create hope and opportunity that builds brighter futures. Will you join me?
