Help After the Harvest provide more healthy food to hungry people during this Month of Giving
After the Harvest rescues fruits and vegetables that would otherwise go to waste and donates them to agencies that feed hungry people. A common sense solution for the common good.
Help our hungry neighbors sit down to a table with fresh, nutritious fruits and vegetables this holiday season. We hear from local agencies every day that they need more produce. As a matter of fact, 55% of people identify fresh fruits and vegetables as the foods they most desire but aren’t receiving from their food pantry.
We’d love to provide more for the health of hungry families, children and seniors in the Kansas City area. Will you help?
Over a year, your monthly gift of just $10 will provide 960 lbs. of produce or 3,960 servings!
Our volunteers glean after the harvest, picking what’s left in farmers’ fields and picking up already harvested leftover produce. Every field gleaning costs about $500, which pays for coordinating farmers, agencies, volunteers, on-site supervision, packaging and transport van.
Ninety cents of every dollar goes directly to feed hungry people.
The majority of the funds we raise helps secure semi-truckloads of donated produce that might otherwise end up in landfills. Every truckload of produce costs about $5,000, which pays for packaging, handling and sourcing for each 42,000 pound load.
Please donate to put more fresh produce on the tables of our hungry neighbors.
