Café Momentum Presents: Uncle Nancy’s Tongue In Cheek Café
Admit it: You’ve always wanted to be a restaurant critic. Café Momentum offers you a chance not only to be a restaurant critic, but an opportunity to critique the cooking of a Dallas restaurant critic. Nancy Nichols, D Magazine’s dining editor and critic and nicknamed Uncle Nancy by her family, will be the guest chef for Uncle Nancy’s Tongue In Cheek Café. The usually anonymous writer will take off her wig and don an apron to cook for you and seven of your friends. Nichols, a long-time supporter of Café Momentum wants to involve some of the hard-working young men in Dallas County Youth Village’s Café Momentum program in a different capacity. Instead of working the back or the front of the house, Nichols wants to cook for four of the young men. This will be the first time any of them have joined the party and been treated as guests.
After the dinner, you and your seven guests will review Nancy’s cooking and hospitality and write a 500-word review with pictures which will be printed on Nancy’s popular food blog, SideDish, and shared by D Magazine’s and Café Momentum’s social media network. The multi-course meal, paired with wine and preceded by cocktails, will take place at a super-secret location known only by two people. The head butler and server for the raucous evening will be Café Momentum director Chad Houser. Imagine the look on the young men’s faces when Houser serves from the wrong side! Great conversation and laughs guaranteed. Dig deep: This is a one-time event.
This dinner is not a traditional buy-a-seat Cafe Momentum dinner. The chance to experience Uncle Nancy's Tongue In Cheek Cafe will be determined by an online raffle. Tickets are $25 each OR 5 for $100. That’s right, for every $25 you donate, your name will be entered into the raffle. Donate $100 and your name will be entered five times
! Donate $200 and your name goes in TEN TIMES! Obviously, the more tickets you buy the better chance you have of being the winner. The good news is: nobody loses. Your money goes directly to the fundraising efforts of Cafe Momentum. Come on! Give four of the hard working young men at Dallas Youth Village a chance to be served a delicious meal with good people. It's gonna be a love-in. The winner will be picked and announced on, fittingly, April 1.
